|Subject:||ARRA Head Start Wrap-Around Program Update|
|Date Issued:||December 14, 2010|
|For Use By:||EEC Contracted Providers, Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (CCR&Rs), and Head Start Programs|
|Synopsis:||Closes access to ARRA Head Start Wrap-Around Program and Provides dates for final enrollment.|
The purpose of this Bulletin is to close access to the ARRA Head Start Wrap-Around program. Please note that access for wrap-around care remains open through income eligible vouchers and contract slots on a first come, first served basis from the wait list until further notice.
Access to the Head Start Wrap-Around Program
Access to the ARRA Head Start Wrap-Around program is now closed, as EEC has reached capacity for enrollment. However, access remains open for all other age groups through income eligible vouchers and contracts, including those who need Head Start wrap-around care.
Families who have received a funding availability letter for an ARRA Head Start Wrap-Around voucher or slot from a CCR&R or contracted program may continue with the enrollment process, but must be placed in a program with an enrollment date no later than December 31, 2010 for both vouchers and contracted slots.
Families who have received letters alerting them to the availability of an ARRA Head Start Wrap-Around voucher or slot have 15 days to schedule an appointment with the CCR&R or contracted provider. Families within the 15 days to schedule an appointment may continue to do so. Enrollment for these families must be complete by December 31, 2010. Funding availability letters for the ARRA Head Start Wrap-Around Program must no longer be issued.
Contracted providers and CCR&Rs who have enrolled new children off of the EEC waitlist into ARRA Head Start Wrap-Around should enter children into eCCIMS or CCIMS daily as children are enrolled to ensure that EEC maintains an accurate count of children enrolled into these initiatives. Please note that EEC will be closely monitoring enrollment and reserves the right to immediately suspend all ARRA Head Start Wrap-Around Program enrollment as necessary.
Due to overwhelming demand for the ARRA Head Start Wrap-Around initiative, programs may not enroll a new child into an ARRA Head Start Wrap-Around vacancy if a currently enrolled ARRA Head Start Wrap-Around child leaves their program. Additionally, EEC is unable to accept requests for exceptions to the enrollment closure.
