|Synopsis:||Updates State Median Income Level.|
|Supersedes:||Appendix A of the EEC Financial Assistance Policy Guide|
In June 2008, the EEC Board voted to allow the Department to annually update the State Median Income (SMI) level, which is used to determine family income eligibility for EEC financial assistance.
As such, a copy of the new EEC Financial Assistance: Income Eligibility Table, effective July 1, 2011, is attached for Fiscal Year 2012. The eCCIMS and CCIMS applications will also be updated to include the new SMI levels. By updating the EEC Income Eligibility Chart to the 2012 SMI, EEC intends to adjust for annual cost of living increases.
Please note: Families currently enrolled in early education and care programs through EEC financial assistance will not be affected by this change until their next reassessment. There is no need to contact families currently in care regarding this SMI adjustment.
Please also note that the EEC Financial Assistance Policy Guide will be updated shortly to include the new SMI and to incorporate changes noted in EMB FY2011-09, "EEC Financial Assistance for Homeless Families."
