Since 1991, Early Childhood Resource Centers have made materials and resources available to the early childhood community across the state. There are now five public libraries contracted by the Department of Early Education and Care to facilitate the availability and accessibility of these early childhood materials and resources statewide. This collaboration with public libraries creates broader access for parents, public schools, Child Care Resource and Referral agencies (CCR&Rs), individual early education and care programs, Family Child Care systems (FCC), and EEC grant initiatives - specifically the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE), Head Start, Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) and Reach Out and Read.

Each of the five Early Childhood Resource Centers is located in the Children's section of the public library. Days and hours of operation vary for each site so please contact sites for further information. A contract with the public libraries makes the resources at each Center available to anyone across the Commonwealth as long as they have a current library card. By using the Virtual Catalog, a patron can select the items they wish to borrow and they will be delivered to their local library.
