Beginning in 2013, NAEYC and Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) will partner to align NAEYC Accreditation of Programs for Young Children with the Massachusetts Quality Rating and Improvement System (MA-QRIS). The first of its kind for both NAEYC and EEC, this partnership will offer programs in Massachusetts the opportunity to pursue MA-QRIS and NAEYC Accreditation simultaneously.
Program administrators and staff in Massachusetts can look forward to a streamlined process that is rigorous without being burdensome. Programs engaged in both systems will be able to focus on providing quality experiences for children and families and less on time-consuming documentation and preparation for visits.
By partnering with NAEYC, EEC has yet again demonstrated its dedication to raising the standard of early education available to its children. MA-QRIS is among the state’s key initiatives for improving quality in programs; the Brain Building in Progress campaign has raised awareness among key stakeholders of how the state’s future prosperity depends on high-quality early childhood education. The alignment of its QRIS system with NAEYC Accreditation will serve to further the state’s efforts in this area.
