Pursuant to G.L. c. 15D, §11, the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) has scheduled two public hearings to receive comments and feedback regarding its of adoption of Early English Language Development Standards, 2.5-5.5 Years. The draft Standards are designed to achieve the following:
- Help guide lesson planning to ensure that the different linguistic needs of dual language learners are being met throughout the program day.
- Support dual language learner to reach their next level of English Language Development (ELD).
- Support programmatic decisions regarding class composition, staffing, curriculum and assessment in programs that serve dual language learners.
- Assist programs that serve dual language learners to advance within EEC's Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS)
The two meetings will be held on March 26, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and March 26, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the EEC Central Massachusetts Regional Office (10 Austin Street Worcester, MA).
