Diagnostic services are available to Commercial and Backyard Turkey flocks within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. These flocks are required to test for salmonella pullorum-typhoid disease, if the flock is producing any hatching eggs, poults, or adult turkeys for sale.
Tests available to turkey flocks include salmonella pullorum-typhoid, avian influenza, and mycoplasma species (gallisepticum, meleagridis, synoviae). Testing for pullorum disease will qualify the flock for participation in the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) Turkey Directory.
It is unlawful to house, propagate or release wild turkeys in Massachusetts. For additional information contact MA Department of Fish and Game
