An animal with rabies will either die or have to be destroyed. Although you can't do anything to change this in the wild animal population, you can protect your dog or cat. Don't allow your pet to wander alone, so it won't become exposed to infected animals. Most importantly, make sure your pet's initial rabies vaccinations are done properly and the boosters are kept current.
