Woodlands take decades to grow, but can be destroyed in just a few days of poorly conducted cutting. The Call Before You Cut Program is an outreach effort to provide Massachusetts landowners with the information that they need to make educated decisions about their woodlands. Making an informed decision will allow you to achieve your long-term wildlife, timber production, aesthetic, and recreational goals in a way that protects and enhances the value of your property. The decision to cut trees on your property is an important one, don't be rushed into a bad decision.
When you call our toll free 800 number you will be asked to provide your name, contact information and the town where your property is located. This information will be relayed to YOUR Service Forester who will contact you to discuss your needs and follow up with mailed information, or schedule a free site visit to evaluate your woodlands. The information available to you includes recent timber prices , ways to save taxes on your forestland , information about the Forest Cutting Practices Act , a list of MA Licensed Foresters , and advise on managing your woodlands in ecologically sustainable ways .
No matter how you choose to contact us, please take the time to Get Advice and Call Before You Cut!
