Applications must be in response to a CEO job announcement, mailed to the individual and location specified, and received by the application deadline/closing date in order to be considered for an interview.
Announcements will also specify seasonal job descriptions, salary, duties, and minimum qualifications and certifications that may be required. All state employees are paid bi-weekly. All seasonal employees are subject to Criminal Offender Record Information (C.O.R.I.) check.

DCR offers seasonal employment opportunities at various locations throughout Massachusetts. The majority of these positions are located within the state parks system at various forests, parks, recreational facilities and areas.
The Department recruits for positions such as lifeguards, rangers, park interpreters, supervisors, forestry assistants, buildings and ground maintenance workers, and office assistants, to name a few. Some seasonal employees assist DCR professional staff in environmental planning and management.
Most seasonal employees are hired for the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day. A limited numbers of positions are available at various times during the year. Seasonal employees must be at least 18 years old, except for Lifeguards and Summer Workers who must be 16 years old by date of hire.
