Labor Service Positions
A number of positions fall under the Civil Service / State Labor Service process. These positions require a Labor Service Application that can be downloaded from the Human Resources Division (HRD) website. To obtain status on a civil service list, applications should to be mailed to the Human Resources Division, Civil Service Unit, One Ashburton Place, Boston, MA 02108.
Some positions common to DCR requiring civil service status include: Laborer I & II, Greens keeper I, Tree Climber, Painter I & II, Carpenter I & II, Maintenance Equipment Operator I & II, Bridge Operator I, Recreation Facility Repairer, Sign Painter and Letter, and Motor Equipment Mechanic I & II.
Positions without a current civil service list and those that are not subject to civil service are posted on the Commonwealth Employment Opportunities website.
All DCR employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis and must have direct deposit.
Certain positions may require a full background check, which may include Criminal Offender Record Information (C.O.R.I), police or tax check, and drug and alcohol testing.
