On December 23, 2011 a quorum of the Marine Fisheries Advisory Commission voted to approve landing days for the 2011/2012 northern shrimp fishery.  The 2011/2012 fishery will open on January 2, 2012 with landing days on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with days-out on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.  Vessels are authorized to land once per day on an authorized landing day.  Vessels are not authorized to catch, retain or land northern shrimp on a day-out.  The 2011/2012 fishery will remain open until 95% of the 2,000 metric ton total allowable catch is taken.

On January 19, 2012 the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Northern Shrimp Section will reconvene to determine if additional management measures are needed.
