Take a friend or family member fishing for free on June 2 and 3, 2012! You won't need a fishing permit to fish any waterbody statewide for these two days including both freshwater and saltwater (state waters only). It is time well spent with family and friends.
Those wishing to recreationally fish in state marine waters beyond the free fishing weekend are required to possess a Massachusetts Recreational Saltwater Fishing Permit, unless fishing under the authority of a recreational license from New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Connecticut, or are otherwise exempt. Your purchase of a Recreational Saltwater Fishing Permit directly funds improvements to saltwater fishing access projects and other programs that support marine recreational fishing in the state.
For more information on free fishing in saltwater, contact Matt Ayer (Division of Marine Fisheries) at 978-282-0308 ext 107 or firstname.lastname@example.org; for freshwater, contact Jim Lagacy (Division of Fish and Wildlife) at (508) 389-6309 or email@example.com.
