Commercial Black Sea Bass Fishery to Close Effective Thursday, September 12, 2013

The Director has determined that 100% of the Commonwealth’s 2013 black sea bass fishery quota (282,100 lbs.) will be harvested by the end of the fishing day on Wednesday, September 11, 2013.  Effective at 12:01 AM, Thursday, September 12, 2013, it shall be unlawful for any commercial fishermen to retain or land black sea bass through the end of the year or until otherwise notified [322 CMR 6.28(4)(a)(6)].    

Commercial fisherman trip level reports should be sent to DMF Statistics Project, 30 Emerson Ave, Gloucester, MA 01930. Reports must be submitted monthly by the fifteenth of the following month. Blank forms and instructions were mailed out prior to the beginning of the 2013 fishing season, and additional copies can be obtained from the MarineFisheries website at: Trip-Level Reporting.
