On July 3, 2014 the Marine Fisheries Advisory Commission approved the Director of the Division of Marine Fisheries’ recommendation for a revised days out schedule for the remainder of the Trimester 2 Management Area 1A Atlantic sea herring directed fishery. This schedule was developed based on the specification made by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s (ASMFC) Atlantic Sea Herring Section on July 2, 2014 following a review of fishing effort and landings data.
Pursuant to the authority at 322 CMR 9.05(1), the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries hereby declares the following revised days out schedule:
July 7 – September 30, 2014
During this period, vessels in the directed fishery for Atlantic sea herring are authorized to land Atlantic sea herring seven days a week.
The ASMFC’s Atlantic Sea Herring Section will reconvene on July 23, 2014 to review updated fishing effort and landings data to determine if further adjustments to the days out schedule are necessary.
