8/21/13 Public Comment on Winter II Scup Trip Limit

8,000 lbs Per Trip From November 1 - December 31

The coast-wide commercial scup quota for the 2013 Winter II (November 1 – December 31) period is 6,932,998 pounds. In accordance with 50 CFR 648.122(d), the National Marine Fisheries Service set the Winter II commercial scup trip limits at 8,000 pounds per trip. The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries (MarineFisheries) is proposing to establish a complimentary possession and landing limit for Commonwealth during the Winter II period. 

Under the provisions of M.G.L. Ch 30A and pursuant to the authority found in M.G.L. Ch. 130 §17A and 322 CMR 6.28(2)(a) and (6), MarineFisheries is seeking comment on an 8,000 pound possession and landing limit for scup during the period of November 1 through December 31 or sooner if this year’s  Winter II scup quota is harvested.  The Massachusetts Marine Fisheries Advisory Commission will review all comments and vote on the possession and landing limit at their upcoming October business meeting.
