The Period 1 fluke fishery will close effective April 22, 2014 at 8:00 PM. Commercial fishermen that have been fishing under the 500 pound Period 1 daily trip limit or with a Letter of Authorization to participate in the Period 1 Commercial Fluke Weekly Trip Limit Experimental Fishery must now adhere to the Period 2 commercial fishing limits described below.
The Period 1 fluke fishery is allocated up to 30% of the state’s overall fluke quota for use during January 1st through April 22nd. Any unused portion of the 2014 Period 1 allocation will be reallocated to the 2014 Period 2 fishery.
The 2014 Period 2 fishery will open under status quo management on April 23rd at 6:00 AM. The 2014 Period 2 limits are described below:
