Benjamin J. Ericson was appointed, to serve as the Chairperson of the LSP Board as the Commissioner’s designee for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (“MassDEP”) on December 13, 2012. He is the Assistant Commissioner for the Bureau Waste Site Cleanup at MassDEP where he oversees the Commonwealth’s programs for hazardous waste site cleanup, emergency response, marine oil spill prevention and natural resource damage restoration.

Mr. Austin was appointed to the Board on June 20, 2013. He has been a LSP since 1994. Mr. Austin has over 25 years of extensive experience in the environmental consulting business, specifically, managing assessment and remediation of contaminated sites, many of them related to petroleum, primarily in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and elsewhere in the United States. He also has close ties to the LSP professional association, the LSPA, as a member of its Technical Practices Committee. He is currently employed at AECOM in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

Gail Batchelder, Hydrogeologist Board Member
Ms. Batchelder was appointed to the Board on July 3, 1997. She has more than twenty years experience in evaluation, administration and management of compliance, with respect to environmental and hazardous waste projects. As a hydrogeologist she has worked on projects that define the nature and extent of contamination, quantify risk, and develop solutions that best fit a site. Her field of knowledge covers a vast array of contaminants, environmental media and settings. She is employed by Loureiro Engineering Associates Inc. in Plainville, Connecticut.

Kathleen Campbell, LSP Board Member
Ms. Campbell was appointed to the Board on October 18, 2013. She has been a licensed LSP since July 1996 and is also a Registered Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited Professional. Her field of expertise is the assessment and remediation of small to large-scale Brownfields sites to bring them back to productive re-use. With over twenty-five years of experience, Ms. Campbell also has diverse experience in environmental compliance audits, hazardous building materials investigations, feasibility studies, conceptual site modeling, risk-based site remediation, wastewater treatment, and environmental permitting. Dr. Guswa was appointed to the LSP Board on May 27, 2008. He was reappointed to the Board on July 15, 2013. He serves as Chairperson of the Continuing Education Committee. Dr. Guswa has more than thirty-five years of experience as a hydrogeologist and groundwater scientist, and has been a licensed LSP since December 1993. Additionally, he has served as a consultant to local and national government agencies in the United States and Canada. He has also testified as an expert witness in the areas of soil and groundwater contamination, vapor intrusion, and soil and groundwater remediation. Ms. Listernick was appointed to the Board on April 21, 2011. She has specialized in risk assessment for over twenty-five years. She has served as project manager for Massachusetts Contingency Plan and United States Environmental Protection Agency Superfund human health and ecological risk assessments. Robert Rein, LSP Board Member
Mr. Rein was appointed to the Board on June 10, 2013. He has been a licensed LSP since September 1993. He has worked on federal EPA contracts involving emergency spill response and remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedial designs and remedial construction oversight on Superfund sites. Mr. Rein was also a global environmental health and safety director, supervising regulatory compliance, complex remediation and injury prevention programs under various state and country regulations. He has performed environmental audits and conducted trainings at manufacturing facilities in the United States, China, Europe and Mexico.

Farooq Siddique, LSP Board Member
Mr. Siddique, a LSP, was appointed to the LSP Board on April 21, 2011. He has more than twenty years of experience in environmental engineering, civil engineering and hazardous materials studies. He also has experience with assessment and remediation of Brownfields. In particular, Mr. Siddique was the LSP of record for remediation of an industrial parcel of land in the city of Boston. Mr. Smith was appointed to the Board on September 6, 2013. After ten years of performing assessment and cleanup of contaminated sites under the Massachusetts Contingency Plan as a consultant, he joined the City of Boston Department of Neighborhood Development in 2011, as Senior Environmental Compliance Manager. In this role, he assesses and oversees remediation of Brownfields sites acquired by the city of Boston with the goal of bringing the sites back to productive use. He also oversees Massachusetts Contingency Plan compliance issues for the City. Mr. Smith is a member of the Service Employees International Union Local 888. His office is located in downtown Boston.
