7/14 - Two meetings have been scheduled to date to discuss draft guidance documents in support of the recent amendments to the Massachusetts Contingency Plan. The meeting to discuss the Public Review Draft of the Activity and Use Limitation Guidance will be held on July 31. The meeting to discuss the Public Review Draft of Light Nonaqueous Phase Liquid Guidance will be held on August 12.
6/23 - There will be a Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee meeting on Thursday, June 26, 2014. This meeting will focus on implementation issues related to the 2014 MCP Amendments.
6/17 - The 2014 MCP Amendments become effective Friday, June 20, 2014
5/23 - This draft guidance document articulates acceptable approaches for conducting "Greener Cleanups" to maximize the net environmental benefit when conducting Response Action(s) at disposal sites regulated under the Massachusetts Contingency Plan. Acceptable approaches include recommended use of available industry standards and guidance, including the ASTM Standard Guide for Greener Cleanups (E2893-13). 5/16 - There will be a Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee meeting on Thursday, May 22, 2014, which will include discussion of the 2014 MCP Amendments.
4/16 - There will be a meeting on April 24 to discuss Soil Management Issues. This meeting is being held in in lieu of the Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee meeting which had been scheduled for that date.
Erroneous Version of the MCP Amendments sent by Subscription Service
4/16 - If you are a subscriber to the MA Secretary of State’s regulations subscription service, you may have recently received a notification with the “Subject: MA Regulations Change Notification” that had an attached version of the MCP. This notice was sent in error. The version of the MCP attached to this notice is not the amended MCP. BWSC is still in the process of working with the Secretary of State to finalize the MCP amendments for publication. In the meantime, an UNOFFICIAL PREVIEW version of the 2014 MCP final amendments is available at the link below.
4/4 - Pre-publication versions of the text changes of the final MCP amendments (redline and clean) are now available.

11/16 - On Tuesday, November 19th at 11:00 AM, registration will open for half the seats for the upcoming MassDEP/LSPA course entitled "PCBs for Environmental Professionals".
10/18 - Registration will open on Wednesday, 10/16/2013, for the course “Demystifying the Audit Process” (# 1472) for 1 “DEP Course” credit. The course is being offered in conjunction with the LSPA Western Massachusetts Committee Quarterly Membership Meeting.
10/4 - The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) is pleased to announce the publication of the “Similar Soils Provision Guidance” (WSC#-13-500). This policy addresses the very specific application of an MCP provision (310 CMR 40.0032(3)) that allows certain soils to be managed (and re-used) without prior notice to, or approval from, the Department.

9/20 - The next meeting of the Mass Oil Spill Prevention and Response Act advisory committee will be held on October 23, 2013 at The Buzzards Bay Coalition, 114 Front Street, New Bedford, MA. from 9:00 AM to approximately 12:00 PM. An agenda will be sent out via email prior to the meeting.
9/10 - On Tuesday, September 17th at 1:00 PM, registration will open for half the seats for the upcoming MassDEP/LSPA course entitled "Characterization of #2 Fuel Oil Spills" and registration will open for the remaining 75 of the course seats on Wednesday, September 18th at 11:00 AM. This course is limited to 150 attendees.
7/8 - IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING FEE RATES The Fiscal Year 2014 General Appropriations Act includes provisions requiring the Department of Environmental Protection to adopt emergency regulations to increase existing permit and compliance assurance fees adopted under section 18 of chapter 21A and section 3B of chapter 21E of the General Laws to reflect the increase in the consumer price index (CPI) since 2004, the fiscal year in which most of these fees were last adjusted. In response to this action, many of MassDEP fee rates have increased as of August 8, 2013.
