Fact Sheet: Guidance on Sampling and Analysis for 1,4-Dioxane at Disposal Sites Regulated under the Massachusetts Contingency Plan
6/26 - This Fact Sheet provides guidance regarding when it is appropriate to sample and analyze for 1,4-dioxane at disposal sites regulated under the MCP, and appropriate analytical methods for meeting analytical Reporting Limits for 1,4-dioxane.
6/4 - There will be a meeting of the Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee on Thursday, June 25 in Boston.
5/27 - The DRAFT Policy describes an interim approach for obtaining site-specific Department approval for the reclamation of quarries, sand pits and gravel pits using more than 100,000 cubic yards of soil. The Department seeks your review and comment on this proposal by June 17, 2015.

5/18 - BWSC will not be holding a Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee meeting on May 21. The next Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for June 17, 2015, 9:30 a.m. at MassDEP, One Winter Street, Boston.
Vapor Intrusion Guidance Development Meeting
4/15 - There will be a meeting on the draft Vapor Intrusion Guidance on April 30, 2015, from 9:30 am to noon at MassDEP, One Winter Street, Boston, 2nd floor conference rooms A, B and C. A list of discussion topics will be sent out ahead of the meeting. Draft guidance document and public comments.
3/26 - On Tuesday, March 31st at 1:00 PM, registration will open for half the seats for each of the sessions of the upcoming MassDEP/LSPA course entitled "Geothermal / GSHP Application Opportunities under the MCP - A Component or Repurposing of Greener Cleanup Remedies". The remaining half of the course seats will be open for registration on Wednesday, April 1st at 11:00 AM.
2/25 - On Tuesday, March 3rd at 1:00 PM, registration will open for half the seats for each of the sessions of the upcoming MassDEP/LSPA course entitled "The Vapor Intrusion Issue and What We Have Learned: An Updated Perspective on Investigating the Pathway, Sampling Techniques and Effective Mitigation Measures". The remaining half of the course seats will be open for registration on Wednesday, March 4th at 11:00 AM..

MassDEP, as the administrator of the NRD Program, is seeking grant applications for restoration projects in the Upper Mystic River that will restore, replace, and/or acquire the equivalent of natural resources or natural resource services relating to resources and resource services that were injured by the release of No. 2 fuel oil associated with the J.P. Noonan Site in Arlington.

10/31 - MassDEP will be holding a pre-comment discussion meeting on this draft guidance on December 11, 2014, MassDEP, One Winter Street, Boston, 2nd floor, from 9:30 am to noon. Written comments on this document should be submitted to Gerard.Martin@state.ma.us by February 2, 2015.
10/29 - On Wednesday, November 5th at 1:00 PM, registration will open for half the seats for each of the sessions of the upcoming MassDEP/LSPA course entitled "MassDEP Greener Cleanups Under the MCP". 10/15 - There will be a Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee meeting on Thursday, October 23, 2014.
10/3 - Since 1992, the Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs, working in cooperation with federal Trustees, has successfully negotiated 20 Natural Resource Damages (NRD) settlements with parties responsible for injuries to natural resources from releases of oil and hazardous substances and materials. This report tells many stories of how the Commonwealth and its partners have involved the public in planning for and implementing restoration and provides highlights of projects completed or underway.
7/14 - Two meetings have been scheduled to date to discuss draft guidance documents in support of the recent amendments to the Massachusetts Contingency Plan. The meeting to discuss the Public Review Draft of the Activity and Use Limitation Guidance will be held on July 31. The meeting to discuss the Public Review Draft of Light Nonaqueous Phase Liquid Guidance will be held on August 12.
6/23 - There will be a Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee meeting on Thursday, June 26, 2014. This meeting will focus on implementation issues related to the 2014 MCP Amendments.
6/17 - The 2014 MCP Amendments become effective Friday, June 20, 2014
5/16 - There will be a Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee meeting on Thursday, May 22, 2014, which will include discussion of the 2014 MCP Amendments.
4/16 - There will be a meeting on April 24 to discuss Soil Management Issues. This meeting is being held in in lieu of the Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee meeting which had been scheduled for that date.
Erroneous Version of the MCP Amendments sent by Subscription Service
4/16 - If you are a subscriber to the MA Secretary of State’s regulations subscription service, you may have recently received a notification with the “Subject: MA Regulations Change Notification” that had an attached version of the MCP. This notice was sent in error. The version of the MCP attached to this notice is not the amended MCP. BWSC is still in the process of working with the Secretary of State to finalize the MCP amendments for publication. In the meantime, an UNOFFICIAL PREVIEW version of the 2014 MCP final amendments is available at the link below.
4/4 - Pre-publication versions of the text changes of the final MCP amendments (redline and clean) are now available.
