In November 2012, Yale University student Eshe Sherley, 358 Boston public school student members of the Youth Climate Action Network (YouthCAN), several Boston College Law School students and representatives of Kids vs. Global Warming submitted to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) a “Petition For Promulgation of a Rule to Strictly Limit and Regulate Greenhouse Gas Emissions and to Establish an Effective Annual Emissions Reduction Strategy That Will Achieve Massachusetts’ Statutory Obligation.” Learn more about the petition: http://www.ourchildrenstrust.org/state/Massachusetts

MassDEP held a public meeting in Boston on June 13, 2013, during which the petitioners made presentations in support of their proposals and the agency provided information about actions it is taking to address global warming.

On June 24, 2013, MassDEP Commissioner Kenneth Kimmell issued a formal response to the petition.
