About the State Implementation Plan (SIP) Steering Committee

Under the auspices of the federal Clean Air Act, the SIP Steering Committee provides input to MassDEP on the development of the Massachusetts State Implementation Plan for meeting the National Ambient Air Quality Standards.  The Committee was formed to meet federal Clean Air Act requirements for public participation in SIP development.  Topics include air quality and emissions trends, air quality control programs, and federal air quality actions.  Participants include municipalities, regional planning organizations, environmental advocates, businesses, consultants, and EPA.  SIP Steering Committee meetings are scheduled on an “as needed” basis.
