MassDEP has declined to amend its hazardous waste management regulations at 310 CMR 30.000 as requested by Heritage Crystal Clean, a national environmental services company based in Indianapolis, IN, and a Massachusetts-licensed hazardous waste transporter. The changes would have resulted in used oil destined for re-refining being regulated the same as specification used oil fuel being burned for energy recovery. The agency held a public meeting on the petition December 11, 2013, in Boston.
