MassDEP is excited to announce the Office of Permit and Regulatory Ombudsman & Special Projects. The Ombudsman will serve as a single point-of-contact for large and complex projects, including those requiring permits, approval or review by more than one bureau or regional office within MassDEP.
Kate Kerigan will assume the role of Ombudsman as of May 11th. Ms. Kerigan is an environmental engineer and has worked in GZA GeoEnvironmental’s Remediation division from 2011 to 2015 where she executed environmental assessment and remediation projects for a broad range of sites. Prior to joining GZA, she managed environmental remediation projects for Exxon Mobil and served as Director for Strategic Planning at ICx Technologies, a defense industry startup. She holds a Master of Engineering from MIT, a Bachelor of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross and studied at Sanata Dharma University in Indonesia, where she was a Fulbright Scholar.
