  • Sustainable Materials Recovery Program (SMRP) Municipal Grants
    MassDEP Sustainable Materials Recovery Program (SMRP) Municipal Grants offer funding for recycling, composting, reuse and source reduction activities that will increase diversion of municipal solid waste and household hazardous waste from disposal. MassDEP accepts applications between early April and mid June annually.
  • Net Metering Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

    Net metering allows customers of an electric distribution company to generate their own electricity from clean energy sources in order to offset their electricity usage. Net metering can lower a customer's electricity bill by reducing the amount of electricity the customer must buy from the distribution company.   • Massachusetts Production Based Incentives

    The Massachusetts Renewable Energy Portfolio Standards (RPS) provides production based incentives for anaerobic digestion. The Massachusetts Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards (APS) provides production based incentives for Combined Heat and Power, a technology that is used with anaerobic digestion to convert biogas into electricity.

The Mass Clean Energy Center provided Jordan Dairy Farms with $360,000 to fund feasibility studies, and design, and construction costs, while the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources contributed over $50,000 toward other project costs. State and federal officials gathered to celebrate the project's completion in June 2011 in Rutland, Mass.
