- Sustainable Water Management Initiative (SWMI)
The Sustainable Water Management Initiative (SWMI) describes the methodology for defining Safe Yield in each of the 27 watersheds in Massachusetts. This page offers an interactive GIS map that presents a graphic display of biological categories and groundwater withdrawal levels developed through the SWMI process and supporting materials. MassDEP is currently offering grant funding to communities, providing incentives for minimizing existing impacts. Details are available on the Comm-Pass website.
