Public Market Commission's Specialty Food Subcommittee Meets in Boston on Wednesday

WHAT: | The Public Market Commission, tasked with defining and stewarding the mission of a public market in downtown Boston, will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, September 7 at 4:30 p.m. in Boston focused on hearing from specialty food producers and other interested parties about how a new public market can showcase the Commonwealth's specialty food industry. Specialty foods include baked goods, jams, chocolate and cheese. The Commission is comprised of nine members with demonstrated interest, experience or expertise in the production and sale of fresh local foods, plants, and seafood; real estate development; and/or community planning. Department of Capital Asset Management (DCAM) Commissioner Carole Cornelison will chair the subcommittee at this meeting. The public market will showcase a variety of the region's finest local produce, dairy, meats, seafood, specialty foods and beverages, flowers and more. The project is expected to create significant construction jobs in the near future and up to 200 permanent jobs when the market opens.
