The Division is responsible for the enforcement of Department regulations and orders and Massachusetts laws affecting residential utility customers for nearly one hundred and fifty investor-owned electric, gas, telecommunications, and water companies, and for forty municipal gas and electric companies in Massachusetts. The mission of the Consumer Division is to protect consumers from unjust utility practices and to monitor the quality of service provided by utility companies.
