The Standard Offer Service was a transition generation service that was available to Distribution Company customers through early 2005. A consumer that did not select a competitive supplier as of March 1, 1998 was automatically placed on Standard Offer Service. Customers who moved into a Distribution Company's service territory after March 1, 1998 were not eligible to receive the Standard Offer and were placed on Default Service unless they selected a competitive supplier. Today, consumers who receive electric generation service through their utility company are on Default Service.
