On July 4, 2012, the Massachusetts Environmental Police were awarded accreditation by the National Association of Safe Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) in their Boat Operations and Training (BOAT) program. The Massachusetts Environmental Police is the second department in the nation to be so accredited. The BOAT program provides a national standard for the purpose of maritime interoperability at the federal, state and local levels. “This level of training and standardization ensures that our officers, and our federal, state and local partners, are ready to respond and work together seamlessly during joint maritime operations”, said Colonel Aaron Gross, Director of the Massachusetts Environmental Police.
