Agricultural Officials to Declare June as Massachusetts Dairy Month at the 4-H Dairy Camp in Northampton

Media Advisory

On Saturday, Department of Agricultural Resources (DAR) Commissioner Scott Soares will visit the 4-H Dairy Camp at the 3 County Fairgrounds in Northampton and read the Governor Patrick's proclamation declaring that June is "Dairy Month" here in the Commonwealth. Highlighting the positive impact of dairy farming has on Massachusetts agriculture; "Dairy Month" is part of a national initiative developed to encourage consumers to enjoy dairy products all year long.

The University of Massachusetts' Extension 4-H Dairy Camp offers hands-on learning opportunities for youth to learn more about the dairy industry as well as animal nutrition, health, reproduction and milk production. Students also develop and foster life skills through positive interactions with others, learn scientific principles of animal science, become aware of animal industry issues and careers in animal agriculture.
