South Shore
The South Shore Local Governance Committee (SSLGC) is the local representation group for the Massachusetts Bays Program. The Committee works with the towns of Cohasset, Scituate, Norwell, Hanover, Pembroke, Marshfield, Duxbury, Kingston and Plymouth. Our Committee consists of municipally appointed citizens working to implement the Action Items of the Massachusetts Bays Program CCMP on a regional scale.
The chief elected officials of each community appoints municipal representatives to the SSLGC. The Committee meets as needed on individual items of interest to each community. The Committee and its staff work closely with local officials, citizens, nonprofit groups and state agencies to improve coastal water quality. Staff provides technical assistance to the community in the form of coastal project identification, site assessment and hands on project participation.
The North and South Rivers Watershed Association began providing staff and technical support in July 2001.
