The Office of Technical Assistance and Technology (OTA) on-site assistance program helps businesses improve process efficiency, ensure environmental regulatory compliance, and reduce resource and environmental costs. Issues addressed include, but are not limited to: air emissions, chemical use, hazardous waste management, water use, wastewater management, operations and maintenance, and record keeping. The on-site assistance program is voluntary, non-regulatory and provided at no charge to the facility.
The program is designed to accelerate manufacturers toxics use reduction efforts. OTA staff provides technical support and expertise to help facilities explore all opportunities to reduce use and waste from manufacturing operations. In addition, this service educates businesses on regulatory requirements and compliance obligations.
Businesses must rely on internal resources or private sector expertise to complete regulatory obligations or implement manufacturing actions. However, those taking advantage of OTA's on-site assistance gain a third-party view of their manufacturing facility and are given recommendations to help them prioritize their actions to lower the costs and risks associated with toxics use and improve regulatory competency.
OTA has made more than 3,000 site visits to over 1,100 Massachusetts facilities, showing that not only has OTA demonstrated its ability to provide technical and compliance assistance to Massachusetts businesses, but are invited back.
ABOUT THE SITE VISIT:
