EOEEA awards grants to communities, environmental groups and consulting companies to help assess, protect, and restore the natural resources in our watersheds.
This grant provides funds to environmental improvement
projects that are designed to achieve the restoration and preservation of water and/or land resources and will
produce positive and measurable environmental impact. Proposals are sought only for those watersheds which have
an EOEEA published Watershed Action Plan.
This grant supports volunteer groups which monitor inland and coastal water resources and coordinates their
efforts with state data collection efforts.
These efforts could include performing watershed assessments, determination of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs),
and evaluation of the performances of Best Management Practices for stormwater and other non-point source pollutant
remediation. Volunteer groups gather valuable information to support the protection and restoration of important
aquatic habitats, water, and other natural resources. These funds may be used for marine, estuarine, and freshwater
monitoring to help the public better understand the environmental health of Massachusetts' watersheds.
This grant provides funds to public water systems and municipalities for land acquisitions that protect public drinking water supplies and drinking water quality. Eligible land acquisitions include land located in existing or future drinking water supply areas.
