On July 24, 2013 USDA released the Healthy Incentives Pilot (HIP) Interim Report, the second of four reports prepared by Abt Associates Inc. The interim report provides initial estimates of fruit and vegetable consumption among HIP participants and other early pilot impacts. The Interim Report is based on HIP participant surveys conducted just before, and four to six months after implementation began. The surveys include 24-hour dietary recalls in addition to information about shopping patterns, as well as attitudes and preferences for fruits and vegetables. The analyses of HIP participant spending and incentive earnings are based on EBT transaction data for the first six months of the pilot.
