Massachusetts WIC continues its commitment to ensure our WIC families receive the maximum nutritional potential of the new food packages. Additional choices for whole grains, low-fat cheese including string cheese, soy milk, and infant fruit and vegetable jarred foods have been added to the approved foods list. USDA increased the monthly fruit and vegetable benefit to $10 for all women. This gives participants more purchasing power for fruits and vegetables each month.
To ensure the continued success of our food packages, the WIC Program engages the entire WIC community-participants, local WIC programs, authorized retail stores, healthcare providers, and State and community service programs and providers-in assessing the palatability and validity of the food packages, in addition to planning the execution of any new food package policies and procedures that arise.
