The Department Transitional Assistance (DTA) offers a variety of programs designed to meet clients' needs in the transition to employment. The following programs and services are available to provide support for clients:
The Department provides transportation services to current TAFDC clients who are participating in an approved Employment and Training activity. The program provides transportation reimbursement for eligible participants searching for employment, participating in ESP programs and transporting children to child care sites. These services help eliminate transportation as a barrier to employment for TAFDC clients. Call or visit your Transitional Assistance Office.
Child care help is available to people receiving TAFDC and certain former TAFDC clients. If eligible, a TAFDC case manager will provide a child care referral. Once received, contact the Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agency listed on the referral. The CCR&R will explain the types of available child care and provide a list of child care providers with openings, or arrange for child care at home or with a relative. After the child care provider has been contacted and child care arrangements are finalized, the CCR&R will provide a voucher for the child care. A TAFDC case manager can provide more information and you can learn more about child care from the TAFDC Child Care Services flyer. A child care brochure is available at any Transitional Assistance Office.
