Use the Plate Method

At HomeAt WorkIn Your CommunityBlog

An easy way to make sure you're eating the right amount of food is to use the "plate method". Look at your plate. It should have:

  • ½ fruits and veggies
  • ¼ lean meat or protein
  • ¼ grains or starches (like rice or pasta)

Be Careful! Plates have actually gotten bigger over the last 40 years. Most plates are 12 inches wide, but the plate method uses a 9 inch plate. This means you need to leave space around the outside of your plate to make sure you're not eating too much!
