MassHealth can help! What is MassHealth? MassHealth is a program run by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that pays for health care for people living in Massachusetts who have medium, low, or no income. How can MassHealth help me? If you are HIV+ and qualify, we can pay for your health care even if you do not have AIDS or are not disabled. We cover many services to keep you healthy: doctor visits, medications, lab tests, mental-health services, substance-abuse treatment services, hospital stays, dentists, eyeglasses, and quit-smoking services. Do I qualify? We look at income level and family size to decide if you or your family can get MassHealth. (See the income chart.) You may be eligible for MassHealth whether or not you work, and even if you have health insurance. Other rules may apply. Can my children be covered too? Yes. Your children can get MassHealth too. Will information be kept confidential? Yes. All information you give us is kept confidential. What are the income limits? You may qualify if your monthly income (before taxes and deductions) is at or below these amounts. For self-employment income, use your total business income from line 12 on your most recent U.S. Tax Return. For rental income, use the net rental income from line 26 on your most recent Schedule E.
