MassHealth 5010 Trading Partner Testing TPT Broadcast Message Send: 9/15/11 Trading Partner Testing The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has mandated that on January 1, 2012, the standards for electronic health care transactions must change from version 4010/4010A1 to version 5010. All electronic health care transactions currently submitted to, or returned from, MassHealth are affected. Please see All Provider Bulletin 205 for further details. MassHealth providers who intend to submit HIPAA batch transactions after January 1, 2012 must coordinate with their software vendors, billing intermediaries, or their own internal technical staff to modify their systems as needed. To ensure that trading partner transactions are tested before implementation in a timely and efficient manner, MassHealth has developed the following testing schedule. Date Event 08/16/2011 Began testing with software vendors and billing intermediaries 10/03/2011 Begin testing with all trading partners 11/23/2011 Last day trading partners can submit an initial test file to MassHealth 12/12/2011 Last day MassHealth will accept 5010 HIPAA test files before implementation 12/23/2011 The last day MassHealth will approve a test file for 5010 Please note that if you do not submit a test file to MassHealth by the dates listed above, there is no guarantee that you will receive approval to submit files to MassHealth as of January 1, 2012. Also note that 5010 testing will not resume until January 3, 2012. To avoid impact to your claims billing and payment process, you should have either heard from your software vendor or billing intermediary on the status of their testing with MassHealth at this time.
