In fiscal year 2011, a Brain Injury Commission was established by legislative action. Governor Deval L. Patrick appointed the members of this Commission, who included persons with acquired brain injury, state agency representatives, family members of persons with ABI, and providers of community-based brain injury services within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Commission, which held monthly public meetings, identified gaps in service delivery, and other needs, as well as challenges, experienced by Massachusetts residents who had experienced an ABI. These service needs and associated recommendations are detailed in the Commission’s final report below.
