Through the Massachusetts Department of Veterans’ Services, our two Soldiers’ Homes in Chelsea and Holyoke, MA and other sister agencies, EOHHS offers outstanding support services to the hundreds of thousands of veterans and family members who reside in the Commonwealth. We aim to provide this diverse population with financial assistance, counseling, housing opportunities, job training and employment services and access to quality health care.
Our comprehensive state benefits include legislatively designated Veterans’ Service Officers (VSO) in every city or town to find veterans and their family members, advise them of their rights and benefits, and assist them in navigating and obtaining the many benefits and services for which they are eligible.
Through better outreach, new technology and proven peer support models, DVS and both Soldiers’ Homes and its governmental and non-profit partners advocate for and serve veterans and families across the Commonwealth on multitude of levels, including long-term supports and care.
In the coming years, the needs of our veterans will evolve. We are committed to advocating for these needs while addressing them in a holistic manner.
- Ensure that access to all veterans’ benefits and services is available throughout the commonwealth
- End veterans’ homelessness / Increase access to transitional and permanent housing options
- Maximize opportunities for adults to move toward self-sufficiency through employment, education and/or job training
- Ensure both Soldiers’ Homes are meeting the evolving needs of Veterans
