People should feel safe where they live, work, learn, and play. EOHHS' strategies for promoting safe communities include prevention and intervention. Whenever possible, we promote prevention of violence, abuse, and neglect before they occur by offering programs focused on promoting positive youth development and preventing domestic violence and child abuse. We also intervene to protect vulnerable populations, including children, elders, and individuals with disabilities, and support individuals impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. In addition,
- Protecting children from child abuse and neglect
- Promoting positive change for youth in our care and the families we serve by engaging in partnerships with communities, families and government and provider agencies
- Building knowledge, developing skills and promoting healthy behaviors for youth in our care and the families we serve
To support the Governor’s focus on eliminating youth violence, EOHHS will continue to deliver services to individuals, families, and communities that promote healthy lifestyles. Additionally, EOHHS will deepen its focus on youth violence prevention and intervention.
