Staff at DDS Assistive Technology Centers (ATCs) are expert at providing solutions to complicated mobility and other assistive technology needs, beginning with selecting the needed equipment, providing customization or fabricating equipment if necessary, and making sure that people can safely use their assistive technology. Home safety and home accessibility evaluations and recommendations can also be done by several of the centers.

Staff assist with determining if needed equipment is commercially available, if it could be purchased through a third party insurance, and facilitate the evaluation and necessary approvals to purchase necessary equipment.

Centers provide services to DDS consumers who live in both facilities and in the community, although ATCs located at facilities must give priority to people who live in DDS facilities.
