Chapter 224, Massachusetts's 2012 health care cost containment law, requires the Health Planning Council, along with its Advisory Committee, to generate a State Health Plan. According to the law, the Plan should identify the “location, distribution and nature of all health care resources,” and “make recommendations for the appropriate supply and distribution of resources, programs, capacities, technologies and services.” The Office of Health Policy and Planning is currently working with the Health Planning Council on the State Health Plan.
The following service lines are currently being examined by DPH and the Health Planning Council:
- Behavioral Health
- Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI)
- Post-Acute Care
- Other services lines being analyzed
The Office of Health Policy and Planning has created an interactive map to allow users to view an inventory of health care resources in the state, along with other health planning data.
