Public Health Confidentiality Policy and Procedures

The MDPH Privacy Office, in cooperation with the Office of the General Counsel and the Department's Bureau privacy liaisons developed the MDPH Confidentiality Policy and Procedures. All Department workforce members must comply with the procedures in these manuals, which dictate the standards for all confidential data held by the Department.

The MDPH Hospitals each have comparable documents that are consistent with this manual, but developed for their own workforce.

Questions that relate to the Confidentiality Policy and Procedures, an individual's or organization's interaction with MDPH under HIPAA, or to MDPH's hybrid entity status, and should be referred to:
