The Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Suicide Prevention Program Workshop Calendar is now available! We are offering workshops from September-December and will be adding more workshops throughout the year.
When registering for a workshop, please note that each event has tabs titled with information regarding the workshop. Space is limited for each workshop and fills up quickly, so please register before the deadline.
Camp Kita: A Free, Week-Long Program For Youth Survivors of Suicide Loss
When and Where
August 16-22, 2015 in Maine
Open to children and teens who have experienced a significant loss to suicide.
This one-day camp opportunity is designed to:
- Break the isolation families of suicide loss often feel
- Introduce peers who can personally relate to the loss
- Provide mentorship and professional therapeutic services
- Identify healthy coping skills for managing grief
Throughout the day, campers will partake in traditional camp activities as well as therapeutic peer-to-peer sessions facilitated by trained clinicians. Trained volunteers, some of whom are also survivors of suicide loss, will be available throughout the day to assist in camper needs.
- Children ages 8-17 (18 if still in high school)
