The goal of certified batterer intervention programs is the safety of victims of domestic violence. BIPs challenge the excuses batterers use to justify their abuse. BIPs help batterers to understand the negative impact of their abuse on their victims and children. BIPs also teach batterers about non-abusive behavior and encourage batterers to treat their partners with respect. The Equality Wheel shows non-abusive behaviors taught by BIPs.
