Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance was developed by the Roybal Center for Enhancement of Late-Life Function at Boston and adapted for volunteer lay leaders by MaineHealth's Partnership for Healthy Aging www.mainehealth.org/pfha. Participants in the workshops learn how to stop the fear of falling cycle and their increase activity levels. Trained coaches conduct eight two-hour classes. Matter of Balance workshops include:
  • Group discussions

  • Mutual problem solving

  • Exercises to improve strength, coordination and balance

  • Home safety evaluation.
