Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance was developed by the Roybal Center for Enhancement of Late-Life Function at Boston and adapted for volunteer lay leaders by MaineHealth's Partnership for Healthy Aging Participants in the workshops learn how to stop the fear of falling cycle and their increase activity levels. Trained coaches conduct eight two-hour classes. Matter of Balance workshops include:
  • Group discussions

  • Mutual problem solving

  • Exercises to improve strength, coordination and balance

  • Home safety evaluation.
