Fall River is one of the original communities awarded the Mass in Motion Municipal Wellness and Leadership grant to work on the prevention of obesity through increased physical activity and healthy eating. Mass in Motion - Fall River is working on built environment issues such as creating and expanding open spaces though the addition of a walking path at Cook Pond, the Quequechan Rail Trail project, and adopt-a-park programs throughout the city. They are collaborating with New Bedford on creating a SouthCoast Bikeway, and have a very active bike committee. Fall River is also making incredible strides towards creating a healthier city through a Healthy Neighborhood Market program, a Healthy Dining Program, worksite wellness, and working closely with farmers markets to expand access to more residents.
