Waltham was awarded a Mass in Motion grant in 2012 using Community Transformation Grant funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In Waltham, the Mass in Motion grant will enable Healthy Waltham and the City of Waltham to continue their work on health education, outreach, and policy design aimed at increasing opportunities for healthy eating and active living. Currently, Healthy Waltham is helping schools implement new state nutrition standards and healthier fundraising ideas. They also launched their Healthy Dining program, which works with local restaurants to offer healthier menu options.
