Weymouth, one of the oldest towns in Massachusetts, is home to many healthy resources from the South Shore hospital to programs of the local Parks and Recreation Department. As a Mass in Motion community, Healthy Wey - the City's health initiative - works to improve school wellness and nutrition, safe routes to schools, and worksite wellness. They also have a healthy dining program that has been in effect since 2009, which has recruited 5 well known restaurants in the city with several more to join next year. 4 Healthy Wey Cooking Shows have also aired on the local station, WETC; featuring coordinators and nutritionists shopping for and cooking up healthy ingredients. Weymouth has also officially declared May as "Weymouth on the Move Month" and October "Walktober," established health and wellness education sessions at local libraries, and formed a Worksite Wellness WOW team to implement new programs around town.
